Word of the day: Numb
Definition: Deprived of the power of sensations
Feeling: Numbness
I would say that our feet are the soul connection to the universe, my reasoning. Our feet are the one portion of our entire body that solely connects and touches the earth, any other part of us has to be forced upon or bent on to touch the dirt.
I never enjoyed the feeling of fresh grass between my toes, or the feeling of wet grass sticking in-between and on my bare feet. I never enjoyed how sore my feet would feel after hours of walking or standing, or the way my legs would feel after a hard run. Better yet the feeling of hot water running against ice cold toes (worst feeling ever). Yet as time has come, I have started to appreciate the things I can feel with my feet, like soft rugs or smooth cold sheets. Being able to take off my shoes and socks and walk into a river and feel the water rush against my skin and the sharp rocks penetrate the soles of my feet. I enjoy the feeling of my shoes as I slide my feet into them, or the feeling of the ground underneath me as I take my steps into the day. I have become to appreciate the time I have with my feet for if my legs stop working, I will have known that I have felt the universe through my own two feet.
Walk with me
Have patience
As I am fragile
Bone writhing
Muscles aching
Nerves shaking
Yet I persevere
The sin’s
Of my own kin
In my own skin
Pinned down
Frow the bleeding
Of my own two shins.
