Toxic Masculinity Needs Men Standing up for Women

Men need to stand up for women when it comes down to it. I know ‘not all men’ and that you are different. But I have noticed that men tend to back down when a woman is defended by a man.

I have shared some screenshots above from a conversation I recently had on my channel. This happens quite often on there, usually after I have posted a controversial video.

I’ll be on there defending myself from some misogynistic idiot, and a man will jump in. A man who is on my side. Almost instantaneously, the misogynistic fool will shrivel up and back away, even apologizing in the process.

It’s insane, isn’t it??

Why didn’t he back down when I was defending myself alone? Because women aren’t considered threatening enough targets. No matter how bold or big or bright she might be, in the eyes of a misogynist, she’s still just a woman.

I’m sharing this because it’s high time the good men realize that their voice counts. It counts big. If they want to defend the rights of the women around them, they are going to have to start speaking up against their friends. Against their colleagues. Against the men around them.

This thread below illustrates it beautifully. Click on the image to make it bigger.

Maybe as men, you don’t realize it, but these kinds of gestures mean the world to us women. It’s literally the difference between us going home and saying, ‘All men are pigs,’ to realizing that there are lots of good men out there, who are on our side.

I know it’s probably scary for you to speak up against your friends or the men around you. It’s not the thing to do, especially if you want to maintain the harmony or peace of your relationships or to bolster up your masculinity.
