Four newsrooms team up with local hospices to raise Leap Year funds

Four Yorkshire weekly titles have teamed up with hospices in each of their towns to help them pay for the extra day’s care they need to provide in this leap year.

Each hospice costs around £12,000 a day to run and the Helping Hands campaigns run until February 29th, to help raise the money, and also heighten awareness of the valuable work at each hospice.

The campaigns are being run by the Wakefield Express, the Harrogate Advertiser, The Scarborough News and the Halifax Courier.

Rebecca Ryan from Overgate hospice at Halifax told reporter Sal Wilcox: “The double page spread looks amazing this week! We all love the additional items around the main story, including the fundraising events. The donation forms have started coming in and we’ve made a great start with the appeal!”
