The Last Day of Amal Fellowship

It was 5 march when I quit my job due to some issues. After that, I was struggling to find a job. I applied for 100 jobs but always got rejected. I was feeling pessimistic. I had no idea what to do? One day I came across Amal Academy Fellowship Program, which is three months long program.

AMAL ACADEMY is an education startup launched out of Stanford University in 2013. Their vision is an education system in Pakistan that creates lifelong learners, self-starters and problem solvers

I didn’t think for a moment and fill out the application form. One day I got a call from an unknown number and had glad tidings that I have been selected for the fellowship.

On the 15th of Feb, 2020, we had our orientation class at Amal. At the start, I was worried that how I am gonna engage with the class full of strangers? But the environment provided by Amal was awesome, the activities were really engaging and at the end of the orientation session, we felt like we have been together for decades.

This three-month journey was amazing. There were ups and downs, due to COVID19 the in-person sessions were shifted to online sessions. These three months were full of tense and fun. The classes were full of fun and learning. We have taught a lot of soft skills through class activities such as teamwork etc. There was the pressure of Project work every week, but at the end of each project, we would learn a lot of new stuff. That was quite relaxing.

On 10th May, 2020 this amazing journey came to an end. It was our last class. Everyone was looked so upset. It was really heart touching moments to end this Fellowship. But as the last session was started I was wondered, that it was totally different from the sessions that took place in the previous three months. There was no course, instead, they were trying to feel us happy and designed the activities that could help us to overcome our emotions. The part that touched my heart was videos made by our Program Manager Ma’am Naqsh and Assistant program manager Sir Rizwan. where the whole Fellowship journey was captured.

In my opinion not sometimes but it’s always important to things for emotional uplifts. Because it could be a way of mind relaxing. The best way to get more work done is to spend more time relaxing. Although it sounds paradoxical, mental and physical renewal is an essential step in the process of getting good work done. So that’s why in our life whenever we feel tired we need to take a break from work and do some activities that could relax our mind.

I wish this beautiful journey would never end. These three months were the most beautiful time of my life. I have learned a lot of new things. I am now a more confident and optimistic, courtesy of Amal Academy.
