Why you should consider NEVER using Google ever again

Have a random question you are too scared to ask anyone else? Need to do research for a class project? Need the chapter summaries of the book you were supposed to read by today? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, you most likely Googled your way through it. Google is the #1 search engine in today’s world. As college students having to write many papers and do research, Google has become our best friend. Despite this, more and more people are beginning to swear off Google. You may be asking yourself, what is the harm in using Google’s search engine, or other apps created by or owned by Google? The answer is simple. Your privacy is at stake. The next day I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and saw an ad for an eyeglasses shop, with the first picture being clear framed glasses. I thought this might’ve been a coincidence and scrolled right past it. A couple posts later, I encountered another post for clear framed glasses. This is when I began to think that it was a little weird. I ran into 2 other ads for clear framed glasses that day. This began to happen with various of my other google searches

But if this targeting does make you a little weary, then there are some things that you can do to protect your privacy a little better. Companies know that, as college students, we are a very targetable and impressionable group. We are constantly looking for something new and something better and trying out the latest products and trends. Because of this, as students we should try and protect our privacy even more. Here are some ways you can do just that:

Here are to many more internet searches, whether it be for your research paper or simply online shopping without getting tracked or targeted!!
