We all should have 2 Facebook Accounts

After following the news about Russian interventions in social networking ads, I opened a second Facebook account. I realized that my generally liberal friends had never sent me any of the ads about Killary’s penchant for underage sex. I had seen ads for the Other Guy’s slum lord activities, and I even fell for one before cynically double-checking on Snopes to discover how fake it really was. But I’m a scientist and ultra cynical, so I could see how others could fall for this crap.

FB has promised us tools to see what compromised ads influenced our votes, but they are hidden in some remote part of the app that I’m never going to use. Anyway, the really juicy stuff I know I never saw, so I want to see it now. I used my cell phone to open a new account, using my real name, etc. I thought for sure they would just link me to my old account, and they may still do it, but for now they gave me a terrific blank slate. I immediately liked Fox news and Hannity and the VP and Prez and my eyes were opened. I never heard of Gaetz and Bongino before, but now they are my best friends. I even ‘liked’ praying for them. How did I ever miss all this before?

I hope FB appreciates my new dual loyalty. Of course, it was not really my idea. FB made me do it. By stove piping me for my silly ‘likes’ they shut me out of the most fantastic tales on the planet. I had to open another account. This is not all bad for FB. If everyone did it, FB could jumpt to new records almost overnight. Imagine 4 billion people! I am eager to see what new ads I get. I’m pretty tired of the old ones for VR goggles and self driving cars.

Yeah, Medium does live up to its name and seems to clip the wings of the sillies to some modest, moderate degree; but on the other hand no one stands out to give a really analytical middle path to the truth either. Yeah, there are some good pieces from the Guardian and NYT, etc., but where is the great analytical writer to really take advantage of the new Medium? Is he out there plugging away already with only 3 followers and I will never find him or her? Does Medium fail in this crucial test of promoting sincere, serious, thoughtful, truly balanced and fair writing?

Will FB eventually realize that I am two sides of the same person and provide a mind meld that lives up to its aims of fostering truly diverse communication across the whole world? What exciting times we live in!
