Compile Nearcore And Create Validator

In order to start a node as a validator you will need a VPS / Bare Metal with a Ubuntu 18 linux installed.

For this example I used VPS created in azure (2 vCPU 8 GB ram). For the current testnet (betanet) you will need at least 16GB RAM.

3. On the linux instance :

Clone nearcore to our server:

Go to the nearcore folder and change the tags to the desired assembly:

4. Start the validator with :

Now we need to install the near CLI in order to use it to create the staking pool that we used on the previous step:

Install Near CLI:

To successfully install Near CLI, you will need to install Node.js at least version 10.
Install Node.js and npm:

Install Near CLI:

Near will ask you to authorise it in our account, copy the link and follow it. The link must be followed from the same browser in which we entered our NEAR wallet!

Next, enter the same wallet manually and click “CONFIRM”:

We select the last tag and compile:

To find out what the minimum number of tokens is required to be accepted, you can write the command:
