The Fallen

It crumbles around us

This sick and tired world

In the beginning days of decay

The slow and painful empire falling

And we say we knew it not

Deafened and blinded by the sirens

Of ignorance and false understanding

Weeping and gnashing of teeth set on edge

Just desserts are being served to all

But for those whose power shields them

Laughing while we eat cake and grow

Weaker for lack of the milk of human kindness
